List Roundup

Here are some of our favorite lists from around the web you may have missed this week.

1. The Worst Bands of All Time:

This is a CrowdRanked List that needs your input. Everyone is voting on this list and at the moment Nickleback is in a close battle with Creed. Now is your time to voice your opinion and let the world know what band you think really really sucks.

2. Forbes Most Powerful People in the World:

This is a awesome list of the 70 most powerful movers and shakers in the world. As you might imagine The President Barack Obama tops the list and Kathy Griffin just missed the cut, again.

3. The Long List of Jewish Reality Stars:

This clever list was compiled by Jewish celebrity gossip columnist Cheryl Jacobs. Here is a clip of the colorful Jewish host of the show Millionaire Matchmaker, Patti Stanger.

4. The 50 Greatest College Basketball Players of All Time:

A great subjective, detailed and entertaining read as the NCAA basketball season tips off this week. The guys a Grantland publish some great articles and podcasts be sure to check them out if you want to stay up to date on your sports news.

5. America’s Most Broke Cities:

Our friends at The Daily Beast compiled a depressing list filled with some scary stats. Did you know that Reno has an unemployment rate of 13%? Or that Savannah(below) has an average credit score of 716? Ouch.

6. Best Leadership Books of All Time:

Inc.com put together a quick list of some of the best leadership books ever written. If you are looking for some early Christmas gifts for your boss, be sure to check this great list for ideas.

7. Expensive Sports Divorces:

The shocker of the week was provided by the Humpdashian divorce spawning this list from Yahoo. Our favorite divorce was Michael Jordan and his ex-wife Juanita topping the list at $168 million. A minor speed bump for the Air Jordan Empire.

8. Foursquare Badge List:

The buzz around the office is that it isn’t complete but it is pretty extensive. One that really stood out to us was The Douchebag Badge; check in to 25 venues tagged “douchebags”.

9. Essential Apps of 2011:

As determined by the team at Wired, some of these must haves apps have become an integral part of our lives. We love the Twitter and Instapaper apps. What are the two apps you can’t live without?

10. The 7 Most Frivolous Lawsuits Against Celebrities:

A great Ranker list of nutty lawsuits against some high-profile celebs. This might be the sole reason P.R. people still have jobs to fend off rumors, like this weeks news that The Bieber allegedly knocked-up a girl who is know seeking child support. Tsk Tsk.

The Most Annoying Saturday Morning List of the Day

Few things on Earth say Saturday morning like cartoons and cereal. It’s always great, just sitting in front of Saturday morning cartoons, with your favorite novelty cereal bowl, eating sugary stuff that advertising companies somehow convinced your parents were a necessary part of your balanced breakfast.

But among the cartoons, there were always those few characters that really got to us, rubbed us the wrong way, or ruined everything for every body.

Remember this needy bastard?

Snarf Sucks

or maybe this Napoleon-complexed little nuisance?

or how about this troll’s laugh?

There was always that ONE cartoon character that really grinded your gears. For me, it was always Ranger Smith. Screw that guy. If it weren’t for him, Boo Boo wouldn’t have to be so uptight all the time “I don’t think the Ranger’s gonna like this, Yogi”.

What if he wasn’t around to kill the buzz of being two awesome bears in the woods? You know how much more fun Yogi Bear would’ve been as a show? It’d basically be like The Hangover, only with cartoon bears.

If only it weren’t for this fun-ruining Ranger. They should’ve mauled him.

“Well they can’t have fun, I mean, c’mon…”

So, in honor of today being Saturday, here’s a wonderful list that allows you to list the cartoon characters that annoy you the most, and to vote for the worst, best and most memorably annoying ones.

Meme Monday: Oblivious Mothers and Daughters Edition

Hello and welcome to your first helping of meme Mondays! Why meme Mondays? Because there’s nothing better to start you off on your week than knowing you’re behind on something.

For those of you not in the know, an internet meme is sort of an “inside” joke of the internet — kind of like the kind of inside jokes you have to deal with when you hang out with your significant other and their friends, only you (yes, you) can actually participate. Memes are born when multiple people contribute to an image, video or phrase, making it evolve into something that everyone can laugh at.

And since Ranker users have really taken a shine to rounding up memes, we have enough to do meme Mondays until “advice memes” stop being popular.

Starting us off is The Very Best of the Oblivious Suburban Mom Meme. Reddit’s AdviceAnimals section (where a lot of these memes are born, well, where a lot of these memes are raised) took a picture of a pretty attractive almost-middle-aged woman and started making her say the kind of stuff that your normal, in-denial (or really that oblivious) suburban mom would think about her kids doing “adult” or “illegal” things.

For example

So enjoy the very best of this meme that makes fun of clueless, idealistic parents.

Speaking of clueless idealism, when’s the last time you talked to a child about music? Nothing on earth will make you feel older.

“Paul McCartney! You don’t know Paul McCartney?!”

“Oh, you mean Jesse McCartney’s dad? Is that him? Is he an actor or something?”

This causes much distress. Especially when the kid thinks he/she knows everything already, even though they’re in 8th grade, which means they’re just starting to like stuff. At all.

And then it hits a peak when they say things like this:

So for 39 more range-inducing hits from this annoyingly happy, yet ignorant little girl, check out The Very Best of the Musically Oblivious 8th Grade Meme. And bring a stress ball.

And that’s your meme Monday for this pre-Comic-Con July week.
