Weekend Round Up

ROUND UP! This is an emotional post for me, see this first item on this list….well, ugh, okay, guys look here’s the thing…I love Star Wars, I really love it. I feel like I would fit in in the at the cantina, and that I’d be cool with  Han, and that Leia would totally go for me. She would, I’m way more charming than Solo. But with the 3D version coming out…and Lucus being all over the place, it’s hurt my Star Wars relationship and THIS…THIS WAS THE LAST STRAW BETWEEN ME AND GEORGE LUCAS:

George Lucas Says Greedo Shot First

Shenanigans! I call complete and utter shenanigans! HAN SHOT FIRST! Everyone knows Han shot first, you cannot rewrite history! This matters people, this matters a lot. How dare he. HOW DARE HE!!!

Worst Oscar Winners

Oscars are coming up, and this list bugs me. See, I liked Roberto Benigni’s excitement. I didn’t like a 9 year old Anna Paquin winning, or Catherine Zeta Jones (who completely ruined it by being pregnant). So this list needs some attention, and some good voting.

Celebrity Death Pool

Two Words: Macaulay Culkin. He’s the dark horse in this race, guys. Since Mila Kunis left him….it’s been a ticking clock.

(Famous)Girls With Tattoos

I liked this list because it allowed me to play a really fun game on Facebook with you guys, and I like when we spend time together (and Megan Fox). Okay?!

6 Insane (But Convincing) Theories on Children’s Pop Culture

Tao Of Pooh, read it. Enough Said.

You know the drill, leave your favorites in the comments!

Weekend Roundup

It’s that time where I round up the best links of the week. So, in no particular order here we go:

1. 5 Lost Photos That Could Have Changed History
How you lose these things is beyond me. I’m little and I can’t reach very high to use shelves, so I find myself stuffing things in nooks and crannies around the office and I always find them. How are you going to lose photos that were taken at the exact moment RFK was shot? Those are important.

2. Americans Who Least Deserve Fame & Fortune

From RFK who deserved fame to those that DO NOT. I like to watch reality TV as much as the next mascot but Jersey Shore and the Kardashians…I don’t get it. Did you know Kim K get’s $10,00o to tweet?! WHY!?

3.  Teenagers Can’t Answer Basic Trivia

This one is upsetting and hilarious. One girl says Canada is a state, they don’t know the capital city of the state they’re currently in. Wow.

4.Vocalists Who Would Be Lost Without Their Guitars

I really like this list because it’s not the usual “best musician” list it has an added edge.  And really where would Hendrix be without his guitar?

5. This Picture:

It’s so funny because it’s true. This guy is a big drinker if all his hype is to be believed. Plus I idolize this guy, I’d like to be Ranky: The Most Interesting Mascot In The World, but I drink pressed juice…not beer.

So, there is is the top five links of the week. Honorable mention goes out to EVERYBODY that played our Fun Friday game, that was a blast! I can’t wait for next Friday…I’m cooking up some good ones.

Tell me what your favorite things this week were!

Weekend Roundup

Hi Guys,

It’s time for the weekend roundup! So, in no particular order here are the top five things we liked from around the internet.

1. 2012 Best Picture Nominees Recast With Dogs

Dogs are stupidly cute. They’re cute almost all of the time, so of course seeing them posed in these positions is a win. It makes me want to see War Dog, cause god knows I did not want to see War Horse. Can you even believe that it was nominated for best picture? There’s a scene that’s almost 30 mins (feels like hours) of him trying to get this horse to plow a field, you put that chihuahua down in a field it’s gonna run, cut that scene down to 5 minutes.

2.  Best Fantasy Worlds

I am so ready for Game of Thrones to start that every thing that is fantasy related makes me happy. So this is right up my alley. It’s unbelieveable to me that at the time of this post  Westeros is 15th! 15th!!!! Guys, that world is amazing…there’s seven kingdoms, and dragons, and really attractive women.

3.  Worst SAG Winners

Some people just don’t deserve things. There I said it. Sarah Jessica Parker did not deserve a SAG award! And I didn’t even like Dreamgirls….but I love Beyonce. Sometimes I do my “Ranky Dance” to her music.

4.  This Picture:

This old woman is amazing. She’s carrying three guns and told a cop she’s not afraid of a “f*&#ing thing”. Makes us think about Grandma Ranky…she was pretty B.A herself, that’s where we got it from.

5. Literary Tattoos

I love reading, and I love tattoos so this is a win. I also had fun playing a game on Facebook today with most you where you had to guess the book the literary tattoo came from. It’s fun to know what people are into and what matters to them. There were so many “Giving Tree” and Kurt Vonnegut tattoos our little listing heart swelled. Those are two of our favorites, and as you can tell from the site, I have a lot of favorites.

Honorable mention goes to my debut on Wednesday. I had such an awesome reception and really appreciate it. So, thanks guys!

Now you know what I liked from this week, I want to know what you liked. Leave it in the comments, tweet at me @Ranker, or head to FB and tell me there.

OH, and guys one more thing…I want to know what you want to read about on this blog. See, I was thinking about doing Twisted Tuesdays where we talk about crazy news. What do you think?

Weekend Roundup

It’s time for your weekend round up, this is the place where we round up our favorite lists of the week…it’s pretty self explanatory.

1. Politicians Singing List

We are not even a little embarrassed to say that when Barack Obama sang  Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together” our hearts skipped a beat. The man has skills to woo us. But this list is more about the people you don’t want to see sing…the ones that make you cringe…you know us we love a good cringe.

2. Celebrity Death Pool

Yes, it’s morbid and can be considered morally wrong to vote on who’s going to die this year…but it’s also fun. We have this death pool going, you can add your celeb and you can vote up other ones. We like to think it makes death a little easier…cause everything is easier when you’re winning.

3.  This Video

Adorable, sickeningly adorable. These creatures have such cute faces it makes me want to scream “JUST STOP BEING SO CUTE ALL OF THE TIME!” which is also how I feel about Ryan Gosling.

4.  Alternative Movie Posters

This list is amazing, and whoever came up with these casting decisions should be running Hollywood. I really wish Audrey Hepburn, James Dean, and Jimmy Stewart had been in Rushmore.

5.  6 Fictional Places That Actually Exist

This list is great because it confirms that Middle Earth is real, and that is an amazing piece of knowledge.

Honorable mentions go to the article 5 Websites That Could Have Made A Difference In Protesting SOPA because Forbes mentions us, and that was really cool.

Next is this video: Gay Rights Movement this is an amazing trailer for a documentary that’s being made. We don’t want to get political or offend anyone but this is a moving piece of work and this is an issue that matters. So, way to go guys!

There it is your weekend round up. Make sure you tell us what you loved this week and leave it in the comments or lets us know on Facebook and Twitter.

Weekend Round Up!

It’s time for Ranker’s top five favorite lists/links of the week!

Alright, in no particular order but because it is Friday the 13th we’ll start with:

13 Origins Of Common Superstitions

Everyone knows theses common superstitions, but you’ll never guess where they came from. This is a fun list that points out the insanity that drives our lives sometimes.

The 9 Most Bad-Ass Final Words

These are just epic, so badass to be dying and still be witty.

The Cutest Hybrid Dog Breeds

It’s so cute, all these little faces of animals that man created. Yes, man took a wolf…one of the most voracious animals on the planet and turned it into something that looks like a Muppet.

Celebrity Death Pool 2012

The Death Pool! It’s a fun morbid game you can play with your friends! Head on over and add your contender and vote them up. Gene Hackman got hit by a car while riding his bicycle today (he’s fine, relax)…someone was so close to winning!!!

Child Stars Who Grew Up To Look Like Muppets

Child stars were all so cute growing up! Now they are creepy, have felony records, drug habits, and they look like Muppets. The Olsen Twins totally look like Gelflings.

There it is the weekend round up top 5, I’d love to hear your favorites of the week make sure you leave it in the comment section!

Friday the 13th

It’s  Friday the 13th, a date that’s infamously said to be unlucky, although no one’s really sure why! (Wikipedia thinks it may have something to do with the Knights Templar, which sounds to us like they’ve just been playing too much “Assassin’s Creed.”)

In honor of this iconic, superstitious semi-holiday, we thought we’d celebrate. So here are 13 of our most fun lists, each with 13 items, just in time for Friday the 13th. That should bring good luck, right?

13 Simpsons Jokes That Actually Came True

Top 13 Serial Killers

13 Best Horror Movie Sequels

13 Craziest Harry Potter Fan Moments

13 Most Incredible Viruses On Earth

13 Celebrity Stalkers

13 Greatest Zombies In Video Games

13 Greatest TV News Anchor Freakouts

13 Best Horror Movie Remakes

List Roundup

Another chilled December week has come and gone. And it was a wild one in the world of lists, what better way to capture some of the best ones than through a compilation of sorts. We’ve got a list with a rapist winning the Bachelor, lists of the Top Hipster Colleges and naturally the list of the 100 Hottest Women Ever. Stick around and enjoy the fun.

1. The 45 Things We’d Like to Forget about 2011

What better way to celebrate 2011 than with the list of things we’d all like to pretend they never happened. The team at BuzzFeed put together the list we’d all like to forget ever existed. If we’re reminding you about some of these audacious events that happened over the last 12 months… we’re sorry for sharing this list. Including: Planking, Black Friday Madness and Junderpants. SMH.

2. 7 Biggest Cheaters in Game Show History

If we told you that behind that link of the 7 Biggest Cheaters in Game Show History there would be a true story of a convicted serial killer and rapist who wormed his way onto a dating show and won, would you believe us? Well it’s true. In ’78, Rodney Alcala appeared on a show as Bachelor #1 and lied his way to a date with “Sensational” Cheryl Bradshaw. Poor Cheryl had no idea what she was in for.

3. 15 Phrases You’ll Hear During Finals Week

This sweet list will allow you to breakdown the code you’ll be hearing on college campuses around the country over the next few weeks. The jargon will come from students, “Can I borrow your notes?” which actually means, “Can I copy your notes?” and from teachers “The final is open book.” translating to “You should have bought the newer more annotated version of the textbook.”  Read up and be prepared my friends.

4. 7 Most Hilariously Badass Magazine Covers

There is only one way to really describe this list. It’s more epic than the chest hair of Evil Knievel. Insanely over the top but brimming with testosterone. Most of these magazine covers come from Man’s Conquest and Man’s Life, magazines published way back in the day, but anything with a man-eating lobster is just too good to pass up.

5. The 50 Greatest Internet Memes of 2011

2011 will unofficially be known as the year of the meme. With nearly everything quickly spawning and gaining viral traction, we were able to rounded up the top memes from the entire year and put them into a complete list for your consumption. From Scumbags to Pepper Spray and every advice animal and vertical comic in-between, our 50 Greatest Internet Memes of ’11 has it all.

6. List of Note (Historical Notes)

Trust us on this one. You’re going to want to bookmark this site. The site, Lists Of Note, is devoted entirely to historically significant notes. For example, Houdini’s Scene and Prop List… Are you kidding me. After reading the list you can only wish to see the trick and imagine when and where each of the props are used. Not to be short changed take a minute to explore Kurt Cobain’s Smells Like Teen Spirit music video set-list.

7. The 10 Most Hipster Campuses

If you go to one of these 10 campuses across the country you’ll know exactly what we’re talking about and why we included them in this week’s roundup. It’s time we, collectively, shed some light on the slightly rebellious hipsters from around the nation and call to their attention that they have become the one thing they set out to oppose. A popular mainstream fad. Let them have it.

8. 7 Dumbest Video Game Innovations That Actually Exist

Like always, the editorial team over at Cracked does some excellent digging to uncover the most useful list that really make you say, “Huh! I learned something new everyday.”  For example at #2 on the list of Dumb Video Game Innovations That Actually Exist, the “Kiss Controller” for Wii Bowling. See the picture below. It’s a far cry from necessity yet it’s strange but true. For your enjoyment, there are far more “sensual” video game realities on the list too.

9. Hottest Love Scenes of 2011

In case you missed our tweets this week, this was the steamiest lists to make the rounds on the interwebs. This open-ended list currently has scenes from ‘Friends with Benefits’ and ‘Breaking Dawn’. If you’ve got a scene that was too good to be true; jump right in and add it to the list.

10. Men’s Health’s 100  Hottest Women of All Time

Men’s Health did a solid job surveying their audience and putting together the top 100 Hottest Women to ever walk the planet. We’re not here to mess with the details or the placement of these women on this list but these are some seriously beautiful, drop-dead, amazingly well-endowed females on here. Each one with photographic proof. Like #39, Mrs. Cindy Crawford below.

List Roundup

After a whirlwind of a week the best thing is to just sit back, take a load off and catch up on the awesome lists of the week. Fortunately, your buds at Ranker can get you all caught up in a few minutes. Take a look at this week’s List Roundup and enjoy the sweet goodness that’s about to come over you.

1. The 20 Hottest Former Disney Stars

This wonderful countdown list from our pals at who publish a hell of an awesome magazine. It’s start us off with 3 bombshells; Christina Aguilera, Demi Laovato(below) and Emmy Rossum and it only gets better. How can you go wrong with that? Drink up this list and enjoy it til the last drop. You wont be disappointed.

2. 7 SNL Characters That Need to Retire

If one thing is for sure, the staff at Ranker loves SNL… but sometimes it’s time enough is enough. Certain characters on SNL never quite make it mainstream and it gets really old really fast when the producers at NBC don’t catch on. We agree with for the most part here because they provided video great video proof as to why each of these 7 characters need to never make another come back. Let us know what you think of their list. Who would round out the Top 10?

3. The 13 Insane Mexican Food Crimes

As bizarre as the headline sounds this was one of the more popular lists on Ranker this week. Included at #2 is the man who made tamales out of the corpse of his friend after they got into an argument after drinking!!! Nuts right… Guessing that’s why you shouldn’t eat the worm out of the tequila bottle. Or like  killer who tapes burritos to all of his victims. Sounds like the plot to season 10 of Dexter.

4. 50 Top Albums of 2011

Here at Ranker, we’re big music fanatics and we think you might like this list of top records, each with a YouTube video of a song from the album. Of the hundreds of records released this year, Q The Music has taken the liberty to rate the 50 Greatest Albums of 2011 and this is a great way to tune in to some of the tracks you may have missed  throughout the year. If you’re a Spoitfy user you can click here to open the playlist and listen to all the albums at your leisure. Enjoy.

5. The 20 Best Fake Criterions for Really Sh*tty Movies

This glorious list doesn’t need much explanation at all. Just some simple photo-shopping and slap on a clever headline to make a crappy flick even crappier. Really the images speak for themselves.

6. 7 Nuclear Weapon Screw Ups You Won’t Believe We Survived

We’ve come closer to an all out nuclear winter more often than anyone would care to admit. To be honest, we were skeptics first, but once we read into the details provided by Craked, we where shocked to learn otherwise. There was the Tsar Bomba during the Cold War and that one time Bill Clinton nearly lost his marbles and misplaced the “keys to the end of the world.” SMH.

7.  10 Ridiculous Holiday Sweaters Out Now

Another epic list from Complex. If you’ve got that ugly sweater party coming up and your looking to trump your friends, this list is for you. From fornicating reindeer (below) to a blackface Santa. Not only are these awesome sweaters fulgy, Complex gives you the links so you can buy them right now and get them in to truly get into the spirit of the season with a heinous sweater.

8.   Popular Songs That Are Too Rape-y

At first listen these songs are pretty catchy but then when you take a closer listen to their lyrics it make you wonder. The team at BuzzFeed put together an ear-opening list of 7 songs that make wonder what you’re really singing along too. For exapmple in Grease’s “Summer Loving” the lyrics read.

GIRLS: “Tell me more, tell me more. Was it love at first sight?”

GUYS: “Tell me more, tell me more. Did she put up a fight?”

9. 55 Inspirational Quotes (with images)

If the changing of the season got you feeling a little gloom, take a look at this list of quotes that will rock you to your core and pep you back up. Maybe it’s a combination of cool typography or meaningful idioms we’ve read over and over again, but these quotes just stand out more than others do. Enjoy.

10. Best Films of 2011

It’s that time of the year to start voting on the best of the best. A lot of really good movies came out this year. Right now, the action-romance Drive is taking the cake as the user-voted favorite movie of the year. We all know Bucky Larson ain’t making the cut, but where does Moneyball come in? Click on over and cast your vote for your favorite movies of 2011 and see if you agree with everyone’s faves.
