Ideally, you’d have numerous things accomplished for which you were solely responsible. The ability to write relatively complex SQL statements, write web scrapers, create data flows, and quickly create bug-free web applications is what we are looking for. We are going to test you on how good a programmer you are, with full access to the internet to look things up. We don’t really care about programming theory here or knowing things that you can lookup on the internet…we care about getting things done. Requirements

- Pleasant Personality
Responsibilities You’ll be working on helping us turn “big data” into lists by leveraging semantic datasets, APIs, user votes, and other resources to create data products and content for Ranker’s platform. You’ll be creating automated systems that help us ensure that user contributions to this content are handled appropriately and quality is maintained. You’ll be mashing up diverse datasets, including data from Ranker users, and creating new valuable answers to questions that never existed before (e.g. what is the most annoying driving behavior according to women in the midwest?). Opportunities to work on data visualization and data science exist as well. Salary commensurate with experience. Fully paid medical benefits and stock equity are also part of the package. Potential for some telecommuting a few days a week once you are up and running. Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer. SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION (SEO) MANAGER
Job Description Looking to grow your SEO skillset tenfold and work on a big site run by an SEO guru? Time to move on from your agency work doing SEO for local dentists or whatever the latest client they throw at you? Read on. Ranker.com, a Quantcast Top 500 site (Top 100 for Mobile Web) is the platform for crowdsourced rankings across all topics. We are seeking an SEO with 1 – 4 years experience to learn and grow with us and execute on many different areas. We are located in the Miracle Mile area of LA. The company is venture-backed and the founder has sold a successful internet startup in the past. This is a great opportunity for a smart, driven individual to join a fast growing internet startup Requirements
- At least one year’s experience doing fulltime SEO work
- MS Excel proficiency
- Strong command of English language and how people use it in search
- Fast computer skills overall; proficiency with tools and software
- Strong work ethic
- Understanding of search analytics at a gut level
- General knowledge about a lot of different things as we are a broad content site
Responsibilities Just about anything related to SEO may fall on your plate as we test different approaches and repeat what works. We have a laundry list of search-related tasks and analysis that needs to be done. Some of the things you will be doing include linkbuilding, content reachout, partnerships for links/traffic, managing of freelancers, social media approaches, competitive research, keyword research, online marketing, site audits, reporting, using tools/apis for heavy analytics work and vetting of tactics both offsite and on (in addition to tools and GA we have proprietary systems for analysis). Note that this is not a content writing position; other people do that here, for the most part, though you will certainly be editing bits of content at times. While there is plenty of room to weigh in on SEO strategy, please note that we are looking for someone to execute – we know much of what needs to be done. This is a very hands-on SEO position, which is why we are open to candidates with as little as one year of experience- if you know the basics, we can train you on the rest. If you have some solid experience, all the better – we can pay you more – but you will still need to be very hands on, you aren’t going to be hiring an SEO firm to do the execution of the tactics we decide to go with. While everyone in the company has some base of knowledge, we have never had a full-time SEO Manager, so you will have a lot of opportunity to be impactful and grow with the company. Salary commensurate with experience. Fully paid medical benefits and stock equity are also part of the package. Potential for some telecommuting a few days a week once you are up and running. Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer.
